Many of Buckinghamshire's villages have their own small churches which often date back 100's of years, and it's quite amazing how different they are in design and how beautiful many of them are to look at. English
churches quite often have yew trees right next to the church building and the
graveyards are often carpetted by wild flowers in the Spring - snowdrops, daffodils or bluebells
can often be seen.
You can often find bench seats placed around the churchyards - perfect on a nice Spring or Summer's day for a quiet and often peaceful sit for a while. Many of the pictures were taken during the Winter since once Spring arrives our
English churches are often difficult to photograph as they are hidden by the surrounding trees and shrubs -
including those previously mentioned yew trees.
Yew trees are very long-lived and because of this they were treated by ancient Britons as a place of burial, worship and for
other important ceremonies and therefore these sacred places led the first Christians to locate their new churches next to them.

Wolverton's St. George the Martyr's Church was built in 1843 by the London to Birmingham Railway Company for their railway workers and was the first church to be built by a railway company. You get a great view of this old Buckhinghamshire church from the Grand Union Canal towpath by the way.
