Kingswood Junction Bridge marks the start of a short stretch of canal called the Lapworth Link which connects The Grand Union Canal Main Line with the Stratford-on-Avon Canal at Kingswood Junction - if walking, boating or cycling just here it is really worth diverting along the short canal link to at least take a quick look at Lapworth lock flight.
The Saltisford Arm starts where the Grand Union Canal performs a near left hand turn. Built in the 1790's the Saltisford Arm was the terminus of the Warwick and Birmingham Canal. This short Canal Arm is packed with moored narrowboats which are even to be found at the end basin making turning somewhat delicate. There are quite a few picnic tables and grass areas plus many ducks around the area making this quite a pleasant stop for a while if out towpath walking or cycling.

We have picked out a few Books about England - concerning the waterways of England. The Nicholsons Waterways Guides are
a "must take" for anyone going on a Canal Barge or Narrowboat holiday (as well as anyone visiting the canals) as they are packed with really useful information.
(The relevant Nicholoson Guide covering The Grand Union Canal is BOOK 1.)
If the development and history of our English and British Canals is of particular interest consider looking at the Anatomy of Canals series which are really good reading!.
