Shown below are a few photographs of the churches we have visited whilst walking
the whole lenght of the Grand Union Canal and the really beautiful Oxford Canal. The Oxford Canal does not
know the meaning of straight but simply wanders around the English countryside and goes in and
out of several Counties including Northants, Warks and Leics in the process whilst it's newer cousin the Grand
Union tends to be a little more direct. This meandering habit does happily give us the opportunity to
visit several different Engish Counties and villages and also their local churches on the way of course.
We found the churches to be quite difficult to photograph - not just because
as usual with English Churches there are always lots of lovely but large trees
growing right by the churches, but also because the bricks used are a dark brown
colour in many cases which really makes them look dark even in sunlight or they have been built in what
almost appears to be a cement coloured stone. Some of the churches have really high spires - for instance
the impressive spire at Kings Sutton's church - another feature of this lovely church is it has a
sundial on it's main structure.
The churches we have so far visited in Warwickshire are really large buildings even when located in
small villages - they have really interesting shapes as well - for instance the church at Wormleighton.
